With 15 successful years of womenswear under her belt, today brings the news that Stella McCartney could be set to widen her audience. Having already conquered the womenswear market, WWD suggests the dexterous designer is branching out into menswear, just in time to show this June.
Since founding her label in 2001, McCartney has launched three fragrances, a skincare range, a lingerie line, a collaboration with H&M and, most recently, a children’s collection. It isn’t known how long she has been plotting her big move, but it wouldn’t be the first time McCartney has turned her hand to designing for men. She released an Adidas lifestyle range for men in 2010, in anticipation of the London Olympics for which she also designed the kit, and spent time working for Savile Row tailor Edward Sexton before her post as Creative Director at Chloé.
When it comes to the collection, we’re expecting more of McCartney’s signature luxe knitwear, laid-back tailoring and relaxed outerwear — codes that will surely translate effectively into a menswear line. The city chosen to launch the inaugural spring/summer 17 collection is currently unknown, but we’re placing bets on London.
