Local Bristol boy Ben Price has been working behind the scenes for many a year. Working in artist management for some of the biggest DJs in the house and techno scene, Mr Price is also a key member of the crew behind the London and Bristol based parties known as Studio 89. The night takes its inspiration from the legendary clubs Studio 54 and Paradise Garage thus taking on a similar ethos and vibe. Punters should expect a beautiful blend of disco, house and techno that’s played with a smiles all round from start to finish. They have also been known to give out an eclectic gift or two (trust us this is a lot better than it sounds).

Having just announced another instalment of their parties, Studio 89 will be part of new London based Sunfall Festival’s night time programming alongside Deviation, Rhythm Section, Jamie xx & friends and Dimentions. Now we step into a mix from Mr Price himself, taking us on a journey through rare ambient, Balearic and Japanese records as he explains “This mix is a selection of odd records i have bought over the years, bits of balearic, Japanese oddness, post punk perfection and some beatless bits inbetween”. This is your Music To.. Cruise with Tom Cruise.

Music to shift your mood from staying in to staying up all night…
    Alone, Paradise.
A favourite balearic classic that never gets old or boring. A lot of people think balearic music is downtempo/chilled but this track proves otherwise.

Music for fiery arguments and emotional goodbyes…
    Nick Cave, Higgs Boson Blues.
The whole of The Sky went Pink which is the LP this is on would work here. The record is a modern day masterpiece and the documentary that came out alongside it shows how much emotion goes into Cave’s music.

Music to kiss and make up to…
Barbara & Ernie, Somebody To Love Not one for cover’s tracks but this song is a stand out. A perfect stripped back cover of the Jefferson airplane classic.

Music to heal a broken heart…
Sade, Feel No Pain Sade at her best, total groove throughout the whole track.

    Music to get high to…
Portishead, Dummy All drugs work with Portishead.

Music to change your night from mediocre to magnificent…
Moraes ft. Sally Cortez, A1 Welcome To The Factory (Angel’s Journey Mix) Old classic on Hot N Spicy. All 14 minutes are amazing, never get old of it. Hacienda classic I was always told as sadly too young to be there for it.

Music to take a long drive to…
E2 E4, Full Suite Manuel Göttsching’s finest work to do date. LCD Soundsystem’s famous 45:33 was inspired by this and that is also amazing driving music.

Music to walk down the aisle to…
Captain Sensible, Wot (12″ Mix) My favourite pop record ever made so makes sense for it to be my wedding song.

Music you’d like played at your funeral…
Sade – Pearls Another Sade track because she is that amazing, the lyrics are super emotional and enough to make you cry on a normal day let alone at a funeral. This one is also sampled in another great track Hana – ASA-CHANG & 巡礼.

    Music to have sex to…
Brian Bennet, Solstice Just listen to it loads and naked.

Music to celebrate your birthday to…
Captain Sky, Moon Child Stone cold disco classic, I know all the words so that’s good enough for it to be a birthday track I reckon.

Music to play at the afterparty when it’s 6am and the sun is beginning to rise…
Vincenzo, The Way Of Thinking (Original Mix) Old Luciano classic, perfect for sunrise moments.

Music that could put even an insomniac to sleep…
Akio, Phoenix At Desert (1995) Sleep well.
