Iconic fashion and apparel brand Calvin Klein has unleashed its latest star-packed #mycalvins spring/summer 2016 campaign shot by emerging photographer Tyrone Lebon. For decades Calvin Klein has proven that sex always sells, but Lebon has a mixed things up this season with a diverse range of photographic styles. While a hotter-than-ever Justin Bieber wearing nothing but his Calvin whites makes an appearance, Lebon’s images boast several ethereal shots of FKA Twigs, a stunning portrait of Fetty Wap, a Kendrick Lamar mirror selfie, a montage of close up Kendall Jenner polaroids and Joey Bada$$ making a “pledge” to the press. Aside from the pop icons and supermodels (including Abbey Lee Kershaw and Saskia De Brauw), the campaign features a number of street-cast faces and torsos. A big break by any standards, we take a look at some of the standout #mycalvins newcomers.
LA-based skater and model Jan Gatewood appears in one of the campaign’s most striking shots. Gatewood’s previous modelling ventures includes cutting-edge London menswear label Craig Green’s spring/summer 2016 show and Bernard Willhelm’s genderless collection of the same season 2 CUTE 2 B STR8: CARAMELISED BANANA WITH TOFFEE SAUCE. His Instagram account is a cool blend of his life as a skater, a model and an endless array of strong looks.
Gaspar Noé fans will recognise Klara Kristin from her role in Noe’s recent 2015 film Love in which the Danish actress plays the mother of protagonist Murphy’s accident-son. Notorious for its explicit, unstimulated sex scenes and darkly turbulent plot, Love boasted a range of new talent. In fact Kristin hadn’t even acted prior to being cast. She met Noe at a club in Paris and was working as a painter’s assistant when she was invited to attend the casting call. Since the film’s release, Kristin has dabbled in modelling as the face of Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2015 cruise campaign.
