The 27th annual GLAAD Awards nominations were announced in LA today, celebrating films, TV shows and other media, “for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives”.
The Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara love affair Carol is nominated in the Outstanding Film – Wide Release category, joined by The Danish Girl with Eddie Redmayne, Dope, Julianne Moore and Ellen Page’s Freehold, and Lily Tomlin and Laverne Cox’s Grandma. In the Limited Release category, Desiree Akhavan’s Appropriate Behaviour is up against the Mya Taylor-starring Tangerine, Aussie coming of age flick 52 Tuesdays, Boy Meets Girl and Drunktown’s Finest.
Amazon’s Transparent and Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and Master of None appear in the Outstanding Comedy series category, with Empire, Sense8 and Grey’s Anatomy doing battle in the Drama category. Caitlyn Jenner’s I Am Cait is joined in the Outstanding Reality Program category by Jazz Jennings’ I Am Jazz, and Miley Cyrus and Le1f are in the running for Outstanding Music Artist.
The awards ceremony will be televised from LA on 2 April 2016. Check out the full listings here.
