Though New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio warned yesterday that “any civilians caught driving will be arrested,” the unstoppable Casey Neistat threw some snow chains on a Jeep, strapped on his snowboard, and shredded — waterski-style, with a tow line attached to the truck — through the streets of the metropolis.
Set to a remix of Frank Sinatra’s classic “New York, New York,” the thrilling video (entitled “Snowboarding With the NYPD”) depicts Casey and friends having an amazing time — and getting cheers from passers-by — riding boards and skis through the snow-covered streets of the East Village, Brooklyn, and even through Times Square. At one point, he holds a flapping American flag in one hand, and the tow line in the other.
The best part is when the city cops pull the Jeep over and say, conspiratorially, “Someone complained about you, so we’re just gonna act like we’re talking to you now.” Even the police know that sometimes, in the name of fun, you have to bend the rules.
