For his second collaboration with Reebok Classics, Russian-designer Gosha Rubchinskiy went retro for his eponymous brand’s fall/winter 16 show in Paris last night. This season cited 90s Russian punk culture along with Rubchinskiy’s definitive Soviet-motifs and sportswear staples. The new and very-80s sneakers appeared in both high-top and low-top options, in black and white colorways. Rather poetically, “PACCBET” (Russian for ‘Sunrise’) was branded below a small illustration of the sun on the tongue of the shoe. The style is a further throwback to Reebok’s iconic 80s sneakers that defined British streetwear. Styled with sweats or baggy pants, the sneakers offer a refreshing sense of versatility, bringing forth both punk and a more classic sporty option.
Sneakers have become a staple for Gosha, who’s paired up with Reebok once before, for his spring/summer 2016 collection. He’s also previously collaborated with Vans and Camper. Designing since 2008, Rubchinskiy has become one of the hottest voices in contemporary fashion and has been presenting in Paris since mid-2014.
