The Hood Pope and Pretty Flacko are already among the most charming boys in hip hop, so it makes sense someone would flag them for the small-screen. This year they’ll voice some cheeky animals on a new animated TV show—you had us at animals, and A$ap Rocky, and A$ap Ferg.
Animals, as the title suggests, is about a crew of critters chilling in NYC. The rest on the cast are pretty fresh too. Comedians Marc Maron, Wanda Sykes and Nick Kroll are rostered on the round things out, with Mumblecore kings Mark and Nick Duplass wokring behind the scenes to produce the show. Plus, it’s on HBO, home of tonnes of cult classics (True Detective, Six Feet Under, OZ) so we’re pretty confident it’s going to live up to the hype.
They’re not the first rappers to get into cartoons. Rocky’s tour buddy Tyler, the Creator also has his own show, The Jellies. Catch the A$AP boys pilot on 5 February, and peep the trailer here.
