Time to step into the dark and dangerous. Bristol legend Pinch is back on home ground as he prepares to serve up his next release on his own label, Tectonic. Aimed straight for the dance floor, “Screamer” sees Pinch team up with recent collaborator and grime legend Riko Dan who lays down his impeccable trademark vocals over the industrial garage-esque beats. The beat, which sees Pinch head down a more dark and gritty 4×4 route, is the perfect complement to the sonic dark side of Riko’s flow which goes straight in, no holds barred. Having already been aired by Benji B on Radio 1 as well as support from the likes of Mary-Anne Hobbes, Leofah and Mumdance, its time to delve into the i-D premiere of the forthcoming “Screamer.” It really is a screamer.
“In it’s first incarnation ‘Screamer’ was originally prepared as dubplate ammunition for my involvement at the Bristol leg of the Red Bull Sound Clash in ’14, and ultimately contributed to Subloaded winning the trophy. Riko’s vocal is, as always, meticulously on point, thoroughly dangerous throughout and perfectly matches the industrial 4/4 garage rhythm I made. The track has been a solid staple in my DJ sets ever since and I’m really pleased to be able to share it now, it’s a certified banger,” says Pinch.
“Screamer” ft. Riko Dan/ No Justice is out January 29 via Tectonic Recordings.
