In i-D’s new column, Woman Crush Wednesday, we’ll be profiling the up-and-coming girls who are owning life on and offline. They’re the next generation of IT It-girls, who are using the internet to create, collaborate, and make their own rules. Possessing a je ne sais quoi and never logging off, they’ve captured the attention of thousands of followers.
First up, we meet Melbourne-based makeup artist and hair stylist Colette Miller. She’s worked with a host of Australian designers including Emma Mulholland and Khalo, and collaborated on projects with i-D friends FEELTHEFUTURE. For the last few years she’s also done beauty backstage at New York Fashion Week, and can even add “face painting Angelina Jolie’s kids” to her CV.

I don’t like the gang mentality, I just wanna hang out with the girls I find super motivating, inspiring, and who seep good energy.

It changes weekly but right now it’s Throw Away by Future.
What do you cook when you want to impress someone?
I’ve been perfecting that spaghetti bolognese dish since primary school.

I can lower my inhibitions to the point that I become incapable of tricks. LOL.

Rest of my life, so heavy. But I’m gonna shout-out to my friend Renee’s label Daisy cos it makes me feel heaps cute when I wear it ^-^.
What’s the best beauty product you own?
Korean liquid eyeliner! Or Mecca brand lipgloss (this question is very hard for makeup nerds like myself).

Modern Renaissance, purposely messy.
What do you love about the internet?
Endless information on anything you want.
When did you join Instagram?
Ages ago, possibly years, then I had a melt and deleted it. Lasted about two weeks then had fomo and got it back.
Describe your “Instagram aesthetic”?
Anti-aesthetic, a bi-polar depiction of my life, inspiration and a dash of work.
