If we could spend a night watching movies with anyone in fashion, it’d be Carol Lim and Humberto Leon. Over the course of their tenure as Kenzo’s co-creative directors, the pair has flexed their film buff muscles by tapping a few of our favorite directors to bring their colorful collections to life. Before Gregg Araki‘s original short Here Now premiered in Paris this summer, Leon and Lim recruited Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar fave Kahlil Joseph for spring/summer 14. Now, they’re set to work with director Sean Baker.
Earlier this year, Baker released his fourth full-length film, Tangerine — the hilarious journey of Alexandra and Sin-Dee, two African-American transgender sex workers seeking revenge on a cheating boyfriend in LA’s unofficial red light district. Shot entirely on iPhones, the film has received critical acclaim and is presently up for a few Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Feature and Best Director. According to Women’s Wear Daily, Baker’s original Kenzo commission will also be shot on an iPhone. The film will be released online in February, so watch this space for more.
