This year, the ever-magical Chanel Métiers d’Art took place on the film set that provided the backdrop to Italian cinema classics like La Dolce Vita, Cleopatra and Roman Holiday. In a love letter to Paris (which took place in Rome) Karl Lagerfeld dedicated this annual celebration of craftsmanship to French actresses and Italian cinema. Staged at Teatro No. 5 (no other teatro could be more fitting for Chanel), the audience watched the 11-minute film, Once and Forever — starring Kristen Stewart as Coco Chanel — before the black and white set was lit up and the models took to the imaginary streets of the City of Love.
Freja Beha Ericson, Lara Stone and (making her Chanel debut) Bella Hadid, led a cast of bouffant-haired, kohl-eyed girls, clad head to toe in a typically textured Chanel palette of beige, cream, navy and pale pink. Kristen Stewart, Roony Mara and Anna Mouglalis looked on from the makeshift tables outside a makeshift boulangerie. Did your invitation got lost in the mail? Sink into the dark romanticism and Parisian elegance of Chanel Métiers d’art 2016, in the images of the event below…
