Chloë Sevigny is the star of Tara Subkoff’s just-released cyberbullying slasher #Horror, but the actress took a time trip to channel one of the genre’s most memorable teen scream queens on Paper‘s newest cover, photographed by Kate Owen. For the magazine’s “Fandemonium” issue, Sevigny recreated the iconic prom look from Carrie — the 1976 nightmarish flick that saw Sissy Spacek pair a tiara with a bucket of pig’s blood in her breakout role.
Fronting one of Paper‘s four covers, Sevigny is joined by Paris Hilton, Pretty Little Liars‘ Lucy Hale, and Marc Jacobs’ Insta-famous bull terrier Neville. Inside the issue, Sevigny’s #Horror co-stars Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning, and Lydia Hearst also recreate iconic spooky slasher looks (Lyonne does Redemption, Manning steps inside Psycho‘s shower scene, and Hearst goes Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby) as Subkoff sounds off about the making of #Horror. When we spoke to the director, she revealed the film is inspired by 80s era classics like “The Last House on the Left, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shining, Poltergeist. The graphic horror films of that time were amazing; they had these really strong, interesting characters in them and full arcs to their narratives.”
While her cover co-stars sport strong looks, Sevigny’s full-on blood bath steals the show. But then again, she’s always been one to step up dressing up (check out her favorite Halloween costume: a charred Joan of Arc styled by way of the Smiths’ classic Bigmouth Strikes Again).
