The idea that anyone should feel unsafe in their own home is abhorrent yet domestic violence in Australia is, devastatingly, a very real issue that has to be addressed and ultimately stopped. When the stats tell us that one in three Australian women experience domestic violence in their lives and that one of those women is killed every week, it’s essential that we all do whatever we can to help raise awareness and empower the victims.

Bernadette Francis and Laura Albee Barton, the designers behind the lifestyle label PER-TIM have launched a new venture called the Hands Down Project, the first in a series of not for profit projects they intend to run. They’ve teamed up with As Is, a social enterprise that facilitates collaboration between local creatives and not-for-profit organisations, to create a set of sweet pillow cases designed by Eloise Rapp with our friend Prue Stent shootong the outdoor adventure campaign for them.

Ultimately culminating in an event this Sunday 29th November, the team have sourced products from 50 super cool businesses which will be auctioned off on the night. With gear from VernerPOMSSeb Brown and PER-TIM, amongst many others on offer, you’re going to want to be holding one of those raffle tickets.

With all profits from this project going to the Domestic Violence Resource Centre of Victoria, you can help by buying something beautiful for your home that helps make the homes of others more liveable spaces in the process.
