Dimitri Hegemann, the founder of legendary techno club Tresor, is planning to open a techno museum in Berlin, the German capital and the dance genre’s home town.
“I will call it the Living Archive of Electronica,” Dimitri Hegemann told Insomniac, “Because techno here in Berlin is still a living, inspiring and vivid movement”. Hegemann is currently fundraising for the museum, which is set to open in autumn 2016, coinciding with Tresor’s 25th birthday celebrations.
Another techno museum will open in Frankfurt the following year. The Museum of Modern Electronic Music, or MOMEM, will launch in 2017 and promises to present the history of the genre as well as art, graphic design, wearables and instrument tech.
