It’s spring time downunder and that means that announcements for summer music festivals are seemingly dropping every week, but few steal our hearts like Sugar Mountain. The single-day Melbourne based summit have just announced the line-up for the 2016 festival that is a celebration of music, art and new media, both from our shores and abroad.
International i-D favourites Kelela and Le1f will hit the stage for the very first time in Australia alongside festival veterans, The Dirty Three and Hot Chip, as well as local pals Roland Tings and Pearls. On the arts side of things Sia collaborator and Grammy nominee, Daniel Askill will return home and wunderkid photographer, Prue Stent will exhibit her surreal works on the day. The festival’s mainstage has been designed by award winning architecture collective, SIBLING, who have previously worked their magic on the i-D/VICE Australia office.
This year will also see the debut of the special food x design x sound experience, sensory, billed as an immersive taste experiment with four courses provided by Bomba in collaboration with design kings Tin & Ed and hometown legends Cut Copy. Boiler Room will also be live streaming DJ sets from the likes of Tim Sweeney and Laila Sakini, from the AM into the PM.
Tickets for Sugar Mountain 2016 and the full line up are available here.
