Friendships exist in two parts—half art project, half musical venture, shared and created by two pals, Mic and Misha. Their trippy beats move between genres, parties, and living rooms. The accompanying visuals are enough to transfix you to the spot, if only you could stop dancing long enough.
When we asked them to make us a mix, they were initially stumped: “A mix can be so much more than a standard DJ mix. You can bend tracks and manipulate them in audio software beyond what you can do on the wheels of steel. I started creating a texturally rich and layered mix. I was stressing over each transition and affecting everything different each time. Experimenting with severe pitch, warp and speed morphing. While it was kind of cool, it lacked a serious vibe”.
But after a bit of deep breathing, and some medicinal beers they hit their stride and “took consciousness out of the equation”. Describing the resulting mix as “sharp, live and abrasive” it’s exactly what you can expect from one of their live sets. Get ready to meet your new best friends.
