Producers Oliver Rodigan and James Jacob, aka Cadenza and Jakwob, have been getting busy in the studio with impressive results. “I heard some of Jakwob’s new solo stuff and the beats he was doing for Little Simz and it was all based around these really broken beat moody textures,” explains the TALA and Kiko Bun collaborator. “I had some sketches on a similar tip so I shot him a text and we set up a day to work on some ideas. Queens to Brixton was the second track we made.” Starting out sampling Damian Marley’s As We Enter, the duo have built a big room breaks banger guaranteed to get serious dancefloor attention. “Collaboration is one of the most important things when producing,” confirms Jakwob “and Cadenza is a don.” As the track premieres exclusively on i-D, treat yourself to a priceless download and get to know Queens To Brixton.
Cadenza‘s debut single Foundation feat. Stylo G & Busy Signal is out now.
