Rose McGowan has made a career out of being provocative, but her latest project, a video for single RM486 definitely isn’t Jawbreaker. Named after abortion pill RU-486 the video opens on McGowan dipped in white plaster, which she peels away emerging as a bald, white-painted ‘alien.’
Adopting various characters throughout the clip McGowan explores different facets of her public identity from the media-perceived ‘goth phase’ which made her an icon in the 90s to the ‘green haired hollywood’ persona of which she has recently been a vocal critic.
Written and performed with French electro band Punishment and directed by Jonas Åkerlund, RM486 ends as McGowan peels back a layer, revealing her ‘most powerful’ and ‘rawest’ self which she dubs ‘Art.’ Watch the full clip below:
