Gorillaz founding member and Tank Girl comic designer Jamie Hewlett has announced that his first ever art show, titled The Suggestionists, will open at the Saatchi Gallery in London on the 18th of November.
The fine art exhibition will bring together three brand new bodies of work from Hewlett: Tarot, inspired by magic-realist Chilean film director Alejandro Jodorowsky; L’Amoureux, a ” frisky homage to the exploitation movies of the 60s and 70s”; and Pines, fairytale illustrations of trees in the South of France.

Hewlett is known for creating the virtual band members of Gorillaz, alongside Damon Albarn, and for his cult post-punk character Tank Girl, a comic series that ran from 1988 to 1995 and just last year successfully crowdfunding a book, 21st Century Tank Girl. In May 1995, Hewlett created a special Tank Girl design for the cover of i-D The Sharp Issue, in which she looks astonishingly like Ruby Rose, a whole 20 years before La Rose hit the big time.
