Actress, model and DJ Ruby Rose is lining up her biggest role yet – a part in the next Fast and Furious movie. Ruby, who has spoken candidly and eloquently about identifying as gender fluid, now has a higher profile than ever thanks to her well-received performance as Stella Karlin, the inmate who caused trouble for Taylor Schilling’s Piper Chapman, in season three of the Orange Is the New Black.
Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time that Ruby has been in the running for a Fast and Furious role. “My last audition before Orange was for Fast and Furious 7. But they didn’t want me because one of the main guys said I looked like Justin Bieber!” Rose told Australia’s Today Show recently. “It’s so funny because now I’m in talks with that movie and I haven’t mentioned to them that I know [they turned me down because I looked like Justin].” Rumors online suggest Ruby has now bagged the part, though this has yet to be confirmed officially. Fingers crossed it’s really true, because we can’t think of anyone else we’d rather see slamming down the pedal in 2017’s Fast and Furious 8.
