“Are you ready? It all comes off tomorrow…” read the subject line of Tommy Hilfiger’s cryptic invitation email. A teaser in every sense of the word, “drag to reveal” was enough to leave us clicking to unveil and undress their latest global brand ambassador, tennis superstar Rafael Nadal.
Days before he takes up the challenges of the US Open, the 14 time Grand Slam has been tapped up to be the face (and abs and bulge) to relaunch the Great American brand’s underwear collection. In addition to his well-honed athleticism, the choice of Nadal is a fitting one because he’s infamous for in-game habit of bouncing the ball with his racket 10-12 times before reaching around with his right hand to adjust the back of his pants.
As the partnership is unveiled in New York this afternoon, all eyes will be on Nadal’s derrière and how the technical details of the underwear (including their four-way stretch microfibre and new waistband) impact his routine.
