She’s a front row regular and a campaign favourite, and now Karl Lagerfeld has chosen Kristen Stewart to take on the role of Madame Chanel herself, in a short film to be shown at the Chanel Métiers d’Arts show in Rome on 1 December.
Stewart plays Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in a fictional, behind the scenes teaser for a yet to be made biopic of the iconic founder of the French fashion house. The film was directed by Karl Lagerfeld over two days in Luc Besson’s studio in Paris last month. The Chanel creative director also developed the plot, dialogue, costumes and casting.
The sultry actor apparently relished playing Coco in a bad mood. “She played it really, really mean,” Lagerfeld said, wwd report. “You only see her in tests and she’s complaining about everything. She’s mean with the director; mean with the producer,” he adds.
