Rihanna has joined The Voice as a “key advisor.” She’ll assist the show’s coaches Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton during its ninth season, which begins on NBC on September 21. This isn’t RiRi’s first attempt at mentoring – she previously appeared as a guest judge on the US version of The X Factor in 2011.
While there’s no word yet on when Rihanna will make her on-screen debut as key advisor, the role isn’t a full-time one – Taylor Swift appeared in three episodes of The Voice when she was hired as its key advisor for season seven. As well as counseling and critiquing, RiRi will surely take to the stage to perform the next single from her R8 album at some point during the new season.
