Jeremy Scott’s cartoon makeover of Moschino has reached its peak at the brand’s new store in New York. WWD reports that the president of Moschino’s parent company, Aeffe’s Michelle Stein, compared the store’s interior to the movie Big.

The space, which opened yesterday on Wooster Street in Soho, was designed by architect Ida Sborgiar with creative direction from Scott. The designer requested high ceilings and ample floor space, so that he could install rotating exhibitions.

Currently, the store’s sculptural display cases include two five-foot versions of the designer’s iconic leather-jacket bags and two pairs of giant Moschino pumps. The right shoes have built-in shelves arranged with human-sized accessories, and the left shoes have little padded seats for trying them on. Even the clothing rails are shaped like six-foot-long coat hangers.

Scott told Style.com that opening his first store in New York felt like a homecoming. He remembers walking down Fifth Avenue not long after he arrived in the city from Kansas – wearing a sarong and carrying a parasol – and realizing, “I had found my people, and I was where I needed to be.”
