When Fox News recently declared that Kendrick Lamar has done “more damage to young African-Americans than racism”, the world wholeheartedly disagreed. Fast forward to a Black Lives Matter conference when a 14-year-old boy was detained by police for public intoxication, and the artists’ politically-motivated Alright became a protest song. The crowd that witnessed the alleged act of police brutality immediately crowded the police vehicle involved and were soon pepper sprayed, only to respond by locking arms and chanting, “we gonna be alright”, over and over again. The feeling of solidarity was bigger than when the districts raised a three-finger salute in the Hunger Games. #BlackLivesMatter
