The Converse Chuck Taylor is a bonafide American Classic. Launched in 1917, the American sweetheart of sneakers persevered through a Nike Free takeover and the re-emergence of the Adidas Superstar to remain one of the most influential sneakers of all time. And, the near century-long reign of the Chuck Taylor does not appear to be ending anytime soon.
Earlier today, Converse debuted a revamped version of the cultural icon, dubbed the Converse Chuck Taylor II. The updated sneaker stays true to its predecessor, with the same iconic appearance but a more comfortable fit. Converse added Nike’s Lunarlon foam cushioning and extra arch support to the footbed as well as a perforated micro suede liner. According to Converse, the new comfort-focused sneaker is “designed to meet the demands of the creative lifestyle and is built for the next generation of self-expression.”
The Chuck Taylor All Star II comes in black, red, white, and blue, and will not be available until next week. But, riding on the success of the first Chuck Taylor, it’s sure to fast-track its way into the sneaker hall of fame.
