In 2002 Supreme and Nike released two pairs of iconic Dunk Lows that Sneaker Freaker Magazine declared, ‘the most significant shoe of the decade’. This week the two beasts reunite to drop five new pairs of the Supreme x Nike SB GTS in shades of white, red, black, yellow and denim.
Along with the announcement of the sneaker’s availability, Supreme explained on their website why the brand selected to flip the GTS -Great Tennis Shoe and it’s relevance to skate culture saying, “The shoe was originally billed as an ‘on court’ and ‘off court’ shoe, but at the end of its seven-year run, the shoe was delegated to ‘off court’ use, where it was appropriated by skaters such as Guy Mariano, Pepe Martinez, and Drake Jones, earning its place in skateboard culture.”
The new version of the GTS features a herringbone cotton canvas upper, white sole, signature Nike swoosh and the Supreme logo in gold embroidery on the heel…. we’re rather partial to the denim hue!
The sneakers are available Thursday, July 16th at the New York, Los Angeles and London Supreme stores and on Saturday, July 18th in Tokyo. Those not in proximity to a Supreme store shouldn’t fear, the GTS will be available to cop from the comfort of your own home via their website.
