For its third issue, The Most Beautiful Man In The World has again scoured the globe to photograph and profile gorgeous men of, and for, all persuasions. The zine’s photos often have a sporting bent, featuring wrestlers and fitness freaks, so it’s no surprise that this time around, Creative Director Frank Strachan and photographer Gregory Vaughan headed to Florida to capture the National Cheerleading Association of America’s Collegiate Championships and StuntFest and its unofficial after-party at Daytona Beach.
Whilst some (especially non-Americans) still see the pom-pom heavy pursuit as merely half-time entertainment during a basketball or football game, it’s gradually been rebranded as “Cheer Leading Athletics”, a sport all unto itself. The pair initially scouted for guys on gay hook-up app, Scruff, but as they took more portraits, they started to realize the stereotype of the gay male cheerleader had little foundation – the majority of the guys they shot were straight. Here are some of the best back-flipping and people-lifting pictures from the issue.
