Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos are celebrating the ongoing success of the Peter Pilotto label today, after being announced as the winners of the inaugural Swarovski Collective Prize. Swarovski created the award, which comes with a €25,000 prize fund, to celebrate 15 years of collaborating with designers under the banner of the Swarovski Collective. The Collective seeks to encourage in designers an “avant-garde creativity that demonstrates exciting and innovative crystal application,” giving designers free reign in their “treasure trove of crystals”.
“We’ve been a part of the Swarovski collective since last season and it is a wonderful support scheme,” Pilotto told Vogue, “It is a tremendous honor to be the recipient of their first award – they are such an iconic partner with such an impressive archive and they are constantly innovative in every way.”
Peter Pilotto has had a very successful few years, winning the British Fashion Council’s 2014 Fashion Fund, which carries a £150,000 prize, smashing sales records with their Target collaboration and securing business investment from Meghal Mittal in January this year.
What’s next for the label? “We always knew that we wanted to do more than prints and lately we’ve had great support from our partners in Italy for embroidery and knitwear,” Pilotto told Vogue, explaining that, “The knitwear category is one that we have been developing for a while and there are others in the pipeline, we just don’t want to rush it, we want it to be right.”
