New York design duo Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have been announced as the new Creative Directors of DKNY. The pair, known for their monochrome, sports-luxe looks have been NYC fashion favorites for a few years now, scooping up various awards including the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and the International Woolmark Prize.
The pair, who met working on P. Diddy’s label Sean John, made their name through their menswear, but have also moved into womenswear, with a selection of looks in their shows and a collaboration with J Crew last year. They will take over the DKNY collections immediately, but Public School fans fear not: they will continue with their own brand. The pair stated: “We both grew up in New York and DKNY has always been part of the landscape of this city in our formative years as designers and New Yorkers. It is one of the brands that helped change the game for us and for American fashion.” Their first collection will be womenswear and will be unveiled at New York Fashion Week in September. Menswear to follow.
