The much-anticipated musical collaboration from pop princess Britney Spears and disco legend Giorgio Moroder has leaked online. A cover of the 1987 hit Tom’s Diner by Susanne Vega, Britney and Moroder’s Diner starts with those immediately-recognizable “Duh duh duh da”s, but with Britney’s trademark breathy, all-American twang. A building synth drops into a bouncing, digital disco beat, as Britney sweetly chants the everyday lyrics about getting coffee and watching the world go by in a diner.
The track is from Giorgio Moroder’s hotly-anticipated Deja Vu, which will be his first full album released in 30 years. The album features a raft of collaborations with pop’s high priestesses, with Sia, Kelis, Kylie Minogue and Charli XCX all making appearances. A glitchy, effect-heavy video for Kylie’s track Right Here, Right Now was released a month ago and the title track Deja Vu featuring Sia dropped last week.
The Britney-Moroder track Diner has been flying around the internet, but now many versions have been deleted. However, it is still very easy to find the track on Reddit.
