2015 is shaping up to be the year of Swick. The young Melbourne based producer/DJ has worked with veterans like Diplo — who reckon’s his vibe “is always a bit more broken liquid. That’s how he keeps that 4×4 uptempo fresh and banging.” Swick’s latest collaboration with Jillionaire, Ant’s Nest, recently blew up all over the internet, and he’s got a little something in the works with Tkay Maidza.

He’s just released a solo EP, Crystal Palace on Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaur’s new imprint, Nice Age. Soon there’ll be a second collaborative EP with Nina Las Vegas. Titled Cool Sports, it’s dropping on A*Trak’s Fools Gold imprint in May.

Sonically, Swick is not aligned to a single genre but pulls from and respects them all. The euphoria of football stadiums and the stealth of internet hackers provide inspiration for his wavy mixes — this one is all tight drums and high intensity synths fused with bangers from Dubbel Dutch to Skepta.

What are the top five tracks getting heavy rotation in your sets?
Spank Rock –Gully (With You Remix)Novelist x Mumdance – 1 SecMC Bin Laden – Bololo HahaMarcus Price –Price Tryckare, and Sam Gellaitry – Childhood.

What’s the most hedonistic party you’ve ever been to?
Maybe the NLV Presents Tour with Eclair Fifi, Sam Tiba, UNiiQU3 and Nina Las Vegas. Cool sets and cool people!

What’s the most phenomenal clubbing venue in the world and why?
I’m not sure — I bet it’s probably in Dubai though, or Berghain. The best I have been to though is probably Fabric. It felt like an airport or something in a good way.

If you could go B2B with any DJ, at any venue, who would it be and why?
Ah, tough one… I’m going to say my mate Christian. He’s my favourite DJ. Also it’s always fun going back to back with Nina Las Vegas.

    History is made at night…
It can also be made during the day, and away from the dance floor too! I do love working in the studio at night tho!

What was the best night of your life?
Arsenal 4-1 Newcastle at the Emirates. Big!

What would your dream rider consist of?
FIFA 15 setup with my friends and a pack of cigarettes. Easy.

What does your actual rider consist of?
6 Pack of Heineken and Vodka.

What’s your favourite party anthem of all time?
Prince, I Wanna Be Your Lover (Dimitri From Paris Edit).

What producer are you predicting big things from this year?
So many — this is always hard. Right now I really like what Mumdance, Joseph Marinetti, Canblaster, DJ Nigga Fox, Jimmy Edgar & Lewis Cancut are doing, so they should all have a big year. I also heard some of the new T.E.E.D stuff and that is going to be so cool!

Where do you go when the record ends and the lights come on?
    McDonalds.

What track would you end the night on when everyone’s still awake and its time to go to sleep?
Give Yourself Away (Unnatural Mix) by Deejay Deer or that Prince Edit.

Finish the sentence, the music sounds better with…
    Funktion One.

    What’s your party trick?
    No tricks for me!

Swick’s Crystal Palace EP is out now on Nice Age.
