Bettina, the most famous and expensive model of the 1950s, is the subject of an exhibition of photos by Irving Penn, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Horst P. Horst and more at Galerie Azzedine Alaïa in Paris from today. Bettina’s short, boyish haircut was copied by French women around the hexagon, she worked for Hubert de Givenchy’s couture house and abandoned the fashion world for Prince Aga Khan (who had just divorced Rita Hayworth). She later worked for Coco Chanel and Emmanuel Ungaro and became friends with Azzedine Alaïa who she donated this collection of photographs to, as if to say: “Forget me, not”. 13th November – 11th January. Photo: Willy Rizzo, Paris-Match n°162. April 1952.
