A new compilation pays tribute to mighty footwork pioneer DJ Rashad. Next Life, out today on Hyperdub, is from Chicago’s footwork collective Teklife, and features tracks from pioneers such as DJ Spinn, Traxman and Rashad himself, alongside members of Teklife’s second wave. The sound continues to have global influence. Teklife make the point that footwork might have lost one of its greats, but the scene is still a goldmine of talent and thrilling musical offerings. All proceeds from Next Life will be going to Rashad’s son Chad.
