A woman designing for women, Stella McCartney has always cut a confident but feminine figure in the fashion industry and always manages to project that onto her clothes, this season even more so than before. Without a particular narrative, McCartney concentrated on combining functional with elegant and strong with sexy. Chunky buckles and subtle cut-outs were features this season, on wide leg trousers, thick vests and slouchy jerseys. Shimmering, ribbed, shin-length dresses were paired with clear, chunky, chain-link necklaces and knotted flats giving that feeling of womanly, soft strength that was the basis of the show.
Next out were the pastel checks, koi-fish frills, satin pyjamas and parachute jumpsuits followed by delicate, printed slip dresses that were sheer in all the right places. It’s a collection made up of love and lightness, designed to be worn by women of steel. Look feminine, dress feminine, you’re at your best feminine!
