Timothée Chalamet has dyed his hair red for that cannibal movie

    The Chalabaes were right.

Stanning someone involves a forensic eye. Because, with rumours abound, it’s hard sometimes to know what is fake and what is true. Such was the case a couple months back, when certain factions of the Chalabaes (unofficial stan army name) became convinced Timothée Chalamet was either bleaching or dyeing his hair for his new movie Bones & All. Well they were on the money: the first photos from the Luca Guadagnino-directed cannibal movie has been revealed by Deadline and Indiewire, and his hair is, indeed, dyed a bright, scuzzy shade of red.

This all started back in April, when a TC stan on TikTok recounted a wild meeting with the actor in a grocery store. @ladybirdasf uploaded a “storytime” saying she ran into Timmy in Whole Foods in Palm Springs. She claimed to have tried to get a closer look at him, only for him to approach her directly. Selfies were off limits, she claims, because Timmy told her: “I cannot take a picture right now, I’m supposed to be hiding my hair.”

The original rumours, stoked by the IG gossip account @DeuxMoi, suggested he may be going blonde for the role, but it seems they’ve tried to replicate a somewhat cheap dye job for his Bones & All character: one of two star-crossed cannibal lovers (Waves Taylor Russell, our queen, plays the female lead) crossing the heartland of America during the Reagan era. His dark locks partially remain, cut with streaks of sun-bleached pinky-reds. We’re sort of obsessed.

The movie, directed by Luca, also reunites Timothée with his Call Me by Your Name co-star Michael Stuhlbarg, while also gathering former Luca collaborators like Chloë Sevigny, Francesca Scorsese (We Are Who We Are), and Jessica Harper (Suspiria). The movie is due to wrap shooting fairly soon, as Timothée will be heading to Cannes for the world premiere of the long-delayed and highly anticipated Wes Anderson movie, The French Dispatch. We’re intrigued to see if he dyes his hair back in preparation for hitting his first Cannes red carpet.

There’s no word as to when Bones & All will be released quite yet. But keep your eyes peeled for more announcements. Luca’s a prolific creator, so don’t be surprised if it’s ready for the festival circuit in early 2022.
