As November nears its end, Mariah Carey begins to stir, awakening from her months-long slumber to swoop in and save the festive season, as she is wont to do every year. In an effort to help quench 2020’s dire gossip drought, the pop queen is joining forces with the model, the myth, the legend: Naomi Elaine Campbell.
Mariah will be the latest guest on No Filter, Naomi’s YouTube talk show, following the likes of Anna Wintour, Carla Bruni, and Cindy Crawford to join the model on her hallowed Zoom call. The episode, titled — somewhat biblically — ‘Mariah Carey on The Meaning of Mariah’ is set to premiere live today.
Launched in April this year, No Filter is a passion project of Naomi’s, seeing her take on the role of a kind of cultural historian, particularly of the fashion world. “This oral history is really a story about a chosen family,” wrote Ari Saperstein for Shondaland. The intimacy between Naomi and her many A-list guests “seems, in no small part, due to how young so many people are when entering the industry. Nearly every guest has known Campbell since she was a teenager, or vice-versa.”
