Got any plans for November 16th to 22nd? Well, neither did we, not until Gucci came through this morning, announcing a week-long online festival to present its new collection: The OUVERTURE of Something that Never Ended. Though we’ll all have to wait until November 13 for GucciFest’s complete programme to be announced, we can share that a highlight will be the streaming of a seven-episode mini-series, co-directed by Alessandro Michele and Gus Van Sant.

The protagonist is actress, artist and performer Silvia Calderoni, who we’ll see "engaged in a surreal daily routine in different scenes around the city, meeting a series of international talents and friends of the Maison,” reads a release from Gucci, with Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Sasha Waltz and Florence Welch among them.

What’s more, the GucciFest platform will also host 15 fashion films spotlighting the work of 15 of the most exciting young independent labels out there: Ahluwalia, Shanel Campbell, Stefan Cooke, Cormio, Charles De Vilmorin, JordanLuca, Mowalola, Yueqi Qi, Rave Review, Gui Rosa, Rui, Bianca Saunders, Hill Road, Boramy Viguier and Gareth Wrighton.

If, at the start of the year, you’d have told us that Gucci would forgo fashion shows to bring their latest collection to us in a fully-fledged online fashion film festival, we’d… probably have believed you. Alessandro Michele has, after all, always had a sense for the best way to do things long before they become part of the zeitgeist.

GucciFest runs from 16 to 22 November on YouTube Fashion, Weibo, Gucci YouTube and on Guccifest.com. GucciFest’s full programme will be released on November 13th.
