By now, we’ve grown accustomed to a new fashion landscape in which the old ways of viewing and communicating fashion have become impractical, unsafe and, in certain cases, obsolete. Of course, it’s natural to feel a certain nostalgia for the buzz and poetic ephemerality of a physical fashion show, but it’s hard to argue against the fact that this new wave of social-distancing-friendly fashion film has allowed for deeper, more nuanced ways for brands to communicate their ethics and creative visions.

The latest brand to take up the moving picture gauntlet is Bottega Veneta, with their new short film Bottega Veneta: Men. The result of a collaboration between the house’s Creative Director, Daniel Lee, and photographer and filmmaker Tyrone Lebon, it sees an ensemble cast of multidisciplinary artists discuss their thoughts on, and relationships to, masculinity, as well as their relationships to clothing — all while dressing up in pieces from a range of Bottega collections.

The film — which features Barry Keoghan, Dick Jewell, George Rouy, Michael Clark, Neneh Cherry, Obongjayar, Octavian, Roberto Bolle, Roman and Tricky — drops at midnight tonight on the Milanese house’s website, and will also be available to stream on MUBI until August 6th. What maketh a man, you ask? Be sure to tune in from midnight to find out their thoughts.
