God, it’s been a little while since we last heard from Troye Sivan, hasn’t it? The pop musician-slash-actor-slash-former-internet personality has been keeping pretty quiet since his last album Bloom dropped back in 2018, emotionally ruining us all and racking up a smattering of five star reviews in the process.
Well, after hunkering down in the studio for a little bit, he’s back — and he’s arrived a little earlier than planned! Yup, barely a few days into quarantine, the man behind “My My My!” went into full ‘Fuck it’ mode and revealed his plans to drop a new song titled “Take Yourself Home” early. He even enlisted a bunch of graphic designers and illustrators to create some merch and a lyric video to go alongside it, giving work to freelancers whose incomes had been compromised by the coronavirus outbreak.
Well, the song is here and it’s perfect: like languid, poolside pop scribed from the afterlife. We thought it was so good, in fact, that we decided to give Troye Sivan a buzz on Instagram Live, and chat to him for for the third episode of NOTHING TO Hi-DE. It’s the first time he’s had a chat about what he’s been up to, so he gave us the lowdown on his what his soon-to-come new project sounds like, how Charli XCX inspired his bonkers release strategy, and why he’s slowly chipping away at Tiger King while on lockdown.
Didn’t see it? Shame on you! JK, you can tune in and catch up below.
