Everyone’s favorite creepy, stalker drama You, starring Penn Badgley, is returning to Netflix for its second season later this month. And if you still haven’t recovered from the first season’s cliff-hanger ending, no matter, because the teaser trailer released today shows that Badgley’s character Joe Goldberg is getting an entirely new lease on life. And so can you.
It opens with an ominous score and shots of Los Angeles, where Joe has seemingly moved.
“Love has taken me to some pretty dark places. But Los Angeles has got to be as dark as it gets,” he says, before belittling a selfie-taking influencer and an aspiring screenwriter in a coffee shop. “Everybody is pretending to be something they’re not.”
Because obviously, hiding behind a facade is something Joe would never do. Right? Um, wrong. We have season one to back this claim wholeheartedly, but the plot thickens. “Can I get a name for the order?” The Barista asks. To which our guy replies, “Yeah, I’m Will.” And the terrifyingly creepy smile that spreads across Joe, I mean, Will’s face says it all.
The second season of You premieres on Netflix on December 26, just in time for the holidays.
