Angelo Baque is a bloodhound for cool. The New York-based creative director is so well versed in the stuff that he transforms everything he touches. Take his brand Awake NY’s fresh link-up with Kappa, for which he’s fused together the athletic spirit of the Italian sports giant with his own penchant for modern American streetwear.
From bucket hats to windbreakers, the collection is adorned with logo tape motifs bearing the Awake NY and Kappa insignias. Fond of a tracksuit? Take your pick: Angelo has made a white colourway, a black and royal blue one, and a half-red, half-pink look too. There’s also a soccer jersey that features Angelo’s interpretation of the iconic Times Square skyline.
“I admire Kappa as a brand for having its roots and heritage in both sport and in youth culture,” Angelo tells i-D. “The collection is a proper representation of what we and Kappa do best. It has been an exciting process to work alongside such a legendary brand.”
