The Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas is getting ready to launch its second annual Fashion Hub this April. The 2019 programme is packed with a wide range of events and workshops that are open to all.
The programme features over 40 interactive events delving into conversation and workshops exploring fashion within a broader context of community and art. Business of Fashion’s sustainability editor Bandana Tewari, will be talking on Ghandi’s conception of mindful luxury, the politics of fashion, supporting sustainable communities and the shift toward a more contemporary fashion landscape. Co-founder and president of Vestiaire Collective, Fanny Moizant, will be discussing compassion in fashion, investigative journalism, film and culture, focusing on the fashion industry’s impacts on the environment and society. And the head designer of Israeli fashion house Maskit, Sharon Tal will be engaging in talks on globalism and the movement towards preservation of the environment, ancient communities and traditions.
For those who aren’t yet acquainted The SSCI is a philanthropic not-for-profit organisation and is the newest evolution of the re-named Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation. It aims to start dialogue surrounding innovation in contemporary art, fashion and architecture. SCAF have previously commissioned over 30 internationally renowned artists including Ai Weiwei, Janet Laurence and Tokujin Yoshioka, to name a few.
