Gone are the days of Ariana Grande’s high-production music videos. Forget the elaborate sets, multiple costume changes, special effects and Madonna as God cameos. With her latest film clip the popstar is pivoting to lo-fi animal videos, specifically her pet pig Piggy Smallz.
Seriously, that’s it. That’s the video — just over three minutes of footage of a cute pig set to her song breathin. Some have questioned whether the video is just a placeholder for a more elaborate video coming later, but Ariana herself was quick to clear that up. “This is the official video,” she commented under an Instagram post that suggested she was trolling.
Perhaps it’s best not to overthink things and enjoy it for what it is: a great pop song and a cute pig video. The world’s complicated enough, this doesn’t have to be.
