Time to update every list of Hollywood’s best ever couples, Winona Ryder is coming for the top spot and bringing Keanu Reeves along with her. Winona revealed in an interview promoting their new film Destination Wedding that she married her co-star Keanu 25 years ago — well, kind of.
Back in 1992, while starring alongside each other in Dracula, the two filmed a wedding scene that was overseen by a real priest. Winona told EW, “We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life.”
“In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest,” she continued. “We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”
Somehow this was all news to Keanu who didn’t remember shooting the scene in question. He eventually went along with it after Winona revealed more details about them saying yes in the ceremony on Valentine’s Day.
So, to recap, we’ve got Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves in an accidental Romanian Wedding 25 years ago — and somehow this isn’t the plot to Destination Wedding? Which makes us think, maybe it should have been?
