A potato salad freestyle, Gucci at the Palace, Lindsey Lohan shading shoes and people calling on Netflix to cancel its fat shaming show: we complied all the news into one list, because you’re so delirious from the heat that we thought we’d make it easy for you.
Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky released a new freestyle called Potato Salad.
And like actual potato salad, it is very good. It is also the perfect accompaniment to your heatwave BBQ.
Over 100,000 people have called on Netflix to cancel fat shaming show
Insatiable
.
It’s based on a woman who gets her jaw wired shut and can’t eat for months so she can lose lots of weight to get ‘hot’ and get revenge on people who fat shamed her. Which, ironically, is a fairly hefty bit of fat shaming itself. Naturally, people are pissed off at a damaging rhetoric that equates weight loss and skinniness with ‘good’ looks, and that not one of the numerous people who the script would’ve gone through had the sense to go: wait, what the fuck. You too, can sign the petition here.
Gucci is going to the Palace.
They’ll be showing their spring 19 collection in September in the Théâtre Le Palace in Paris. The legendary former nightclub was the epicentre of underground fashion and music scenes, with regulars including Karl Lagerfeld, Roland Barthes, Yves Saint Laurent and Mick Jagger. Hedi Slimane just had his birthday at the venue, but this will be the first (official) runway show there.
One woman is writing 270 Wikipedia pages a year to get female scientists noticed.
“I had a target for doing one a day,” Jess Wade told The Guardian, “but sometimes I get too excited and do three.” The postdoctoral researcher of plastic electronics got fed up with the apparent lack of women in science, the lack of recognition female scientists get, and the often counterproductive marketing the field uses to attract them — like that really weird ad in which three women strutted towards a camera while a male scientist stared at them through a microscope, before lots of sexy smoke billowed out of a beaker and a punchy jingle bleated, ‘Science — it’s a girl thing!’ So, yeah, Jess is writing female scientists into the Internet, drawing attention to their impressive exploits rather than their ability to smoulder down a camera lens.
Ex Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz makes his return with LeSportsac bags, because “Why not? It will be fun!”
Vogue reports that he’s collaborating with the brand on a series of bags, plastering his sketches all over them. There are dancing woman and hearts and words like ‘chic’ and ‘kiss’ and ‘sublime’. Why not indeed.
Lindsay Lohan threatened to fire employees for wearing mismatched shoes in what is a promising hint at what her new series may involve.
Remember how
we told you yesterday
that MTV are making a series about Lindsay Lohan’s beach club in Mykonos? Well, she’s also just opened another place in Rhodes, and as
The Cut
pointed out,
she threatened to fire
two employees because they were wearing different shoes. Is it for real? Is it just for the show? Who cares! We want more!
