This weekend’s Wall Street Journal Magazine is fronted by British supermodel and soon-to-be Suicide Squad superhero Cara Delevingne. In a juicy interview with Eliza Lipsky-Karasz, she revealed she leans on Riri for moral support, but also opened up about a good deal more. Here are our ten fave new Cara facts below.
Fashion hasn’t always fulfilled her…
“I ended up feeling a bit empty. Fashion is about what’s on the outside, and that’s it. There’s no searching, it’s just creating pretty things.”
In fact, she wanted to be an actress all along.
“I basically gave up on acting because trying to get an agent was impossible. Everyone said, ‘You’re just a model’…Once I had my mind set that I was going to do this modeling thing, I really wanted to beat it…win it.”
The difference between modeling and acting is…
“With acting, the last thing you do is try to look pretty. Modeling actually makes acting harder—it makes you so self-aware.”
Her daft faces are pure defiance.
“People see a pretty girl, and they expect to see a pretty face. I’m not going to do that.”
Cara and Kendall have their own dance, but…
“It’s a secret.”
Gaga is her grandmother (or at least that was her nickname for Angela Delevingne, who died last year aged 102)
“We could just talk about anything, which is funny because she was 80 years older than me. I felt like we were friends.”
Her home in Chiswick is empty, except for…
“A disgusting amount of clothes. I’m a bit of a hoarder.”
She writes music and poetry
“I usually write when I am feeling sad or angry, or lost or confused. It’s not like when I’m feeling good.”
The fear turned her to yoga
“I used to be in a constant state of panic and anxiety and have far too many voices in my head. I suddenly realized I’m peaceful inside, and I’ve never had that.”
She was “a terrifying child”, of horror-film proportions
“I looked like Chucky with bleach-blond hair. I had night terrors, and I would go around the house turning on all the lights and screaming like people were being murdered.”
