The Working Women’s Club: Work Party
Calling all #girlbosses: London-born, LA-living journalist Phoebe Lovatt invites you to emerge from your reclusive home office and meet her crew at the upstairs of the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles for the WW Club’s weekly networking event and creative powwow. Founded by Lovatt, who dreamed up the club and accompanying handbook ’cause she missed her girl gang back in London, the WW Club’s Work Party is a weekly meet-up for entrepreneurial women who want to collaborate and talk shop while sipping happy hour cocktails.
Wednesday, March 18 at 11AM, Ace Hotel, 929 South Broadway.

Sarah Manguso and Miranda July
Artist and author Miranda July, whose tragically funny and sentimental first novel The First Bad Man just hit shelves, joins contemporary essayist Sarah Manguso at Skylight Books in Silverlake to discuss Manguso’s third title, Ongoingness: The End of a Diary. In it, the author confronts her relationship with the diary she’s obsessively kept for 25 years, after pregnancy and childbirth drastically altered her near-spiritual need to document everything. The result: “An account of mortality and impermanence, of how we struggle to find clarity in the chaos of time that rushes around and over and through us.”
Thursday, March 12 at 7:30PM, 1818 N. Vermont Avenue.

Bernhard Willhelm 3000 at MOCA
German fashion designer Bernhard Willhelm has never been one to play it safe. And the decision to relocate his team from Paris to Beachwood Canyon in Los Angeles — and the unveiling of his fall/winter 15 collection in a kaleidoscopic multimedia presentation at MOCA Pacific Design Center — are no exceptions to his eye-and-headline grabbing shock tactics. Bernhard Willhelm 3000: When Fashion Shows the Danger Then Fashion Is the Danger is a mega-stimulating exhibition comprised of video, photography, clothing and curated objects that tell a story of “uniformity in consumerism” and the future of fashion and commerce, as well as their controversial intersection.
Through May 17, MOCA Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Avenue.
