From Darkroom to Daylight: A Film By Harvey Wang
The new documentary from visual arts anthropologist, author and award-winning filmmaker Harvey Wang — who has published six titles on photography and been exhibited at the Smithsonian and the Whitney — explores the game-changing shift from film to digital, and its implications on the work of photographers. The film includes interviews with more than 20 prominent photographers and innovators in the industry, including Sally Mann and Eugene Richards, as well as Photoshop co-founder Thomas Koll and Kodak digital camera inventor Steven Sasson. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Harvey Wang himself.

Sleater-Kinney at Hollywood Palladium
Brace yourself for the motherload of 90s nostalgia as seminal Olympia, Washington riot grrrl band Sleater-Kinney (Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss) takes the stage at the Hollywood Palladium. After a ten year hiatus (and a whole lot of fan-ticipation), the wildly influential punk group reunited in 2014 with a new record, New Cities To Love, and have since embarked on a major world tour. Swoon.
Thursday, April 30 at 8PM, at Hollywood Palladium, 6215 Sunset Boulevard.

Desert Daze
Coachella who? JK. We know you were there, and we were too. Since you’re probably already jonesing for your next fest fix (but could do without the excessive crochet), Desert Daze at Sunset Ranch Oasis is just what the witch doctor ordered. With psychedelic headliners including Warpaint, DIIV, Chelsea Wolfe, White Lung and more, Desert Daze is the laidback, tripped-out Coachella alternative (or supplement). All your favorite music, a less obnoxious VIP tent.
Saturday, May 2 at 3PM, at Sunset Ranch Oasis, 69-520 South Lincoln Street.
