    Patti Smith and Her Band
40 years ago, the godmother of punk, Patti Smith, released the seminal album Horses with her band. Everything about this record is iconic, from the poet’s opening words, “Jesus died for someone’s sins, but not mine,” to Robert Mapplethorpe’s photograph of Patti on the album’s cover. Lucky fans have been able to catch Smith performing in New York here and there more recently, but Tuesday’s show is a true once-in-a-lifetime ticket. Patti Smith and Her Band will take to the stage to celebrate the anniversary of Horses and the impact it had on music.

Tuesday, November 10 at 8PM at Beacon Theatre, 2124 Broadway.

    Christine and the Queens
Speaking of music goddesses, Héloïse Letissier is one fast on the rise. Better known as Christine (of Christine and the Queens), Letissier is a French pop singer who roams far beyond the confines of that genre. She calls her music “freakpop,” which might be a better term: it combines mesmerizing sounds with energizing performance, visual art and video. Christine is also backed by a talented group of drag queens, who took her in when she was suffering from heartbreak and nudged her onto the path to stardom. Everything about her music expresses her message of total acceptance and her embrace of all genders and identities.

Wednesday, November 11 at 8PM, at Webster Hall, 125 East 11th Street.

Nitehawk Shorts Festival 2015: Art Seen
The Brooklyn cinema’s short film festival is a chance to catch up on some of the coolest things happening in film in smaller doses, and Wednesday just might be the most intriguing night to go. Geek out over exciting art-focused shorts like Marcel Dzama’s Une Danse des Bouffons – a Dadaist love story with a live score by Luscious Skin – and Takeshi Murata’s Om Rider, the story of a punk werewolf and an old man. Organized in association with frieze magazine, the night will end with a Q&A with all of the filmmakers.

Wednesday, November 11 at 7:30PM, at Nitehawk Cinema, 1236 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn.

    Jeff Koons: Gazing Ball Paintings
For his new show, contemporary art icon Jeff Koons takes two of his hallmarks – the reinterpretation of banal objects and mirrored, metallic surfaces – and applies them to a more historical perspective on art. He pulls from the work of greats like Titian, Manet and El Greco to fuse painting and sculpting. Each painting will feature a shelf with a glass “gazing ball” that will serve to instantly connect the viewer with the painting, and in turn with the sculpture, and ultimately with the overall experience of viewing art(!) If this show is anything like Koons’s other exhibitions, it’s going to be a blockbuster.

Opening reception Thursday, November 12 at 6PM, at Gagosian Gallery, 522 West 21st Street.
